Nux vomica has been used traditionally for symptoms related to over-indulgence, over-work, sedentary habits, over-study, shift work, travel, and at times when the body clock is upset.

People needing Nux vomica have a tendency to be type A personalities, excitable, impatient, irritable and fault finding. They may be executives worn out and irritable from overwork­ or ill from excess coffee, alcohol, rich food, drugs or they may just be people who’ve been burning the candle at both ends, or who have got travellers constipation or a bout of insomnia around 3-4 am (often with thoughts of business or study).

It is referred to as “the hangover remedy” because of its ability to often relieve the symptoms of high living and mental stimulation, but may also be helpful for headaches, indigestion, asthma and crampy pains when the picture fits.

Worse in the morning­, loss of sleep, stimulants, noise, light, 3-5am.

Better For resting, hot drinks, milk, fats.
