Homoeopathy Reconsidered: A New Look at Hahnemann's Organon*
Homoeopathy Reconsidered: A New Look at Hahnemann's Organon*
Born in Saxony in 1755, and trained as a linguist, chemist and translator as well as a physician, Hahnemann's principles are seen to be valid today. This work focuses on his "Organon of Medicine" which is concerned with the principles of the nature of disease and its effective treatment by homoeopathy. It asks three principal questions: What constitutes disease processes? What is the nature of medicines? How can these be safely and effectively applied in therapy? The author reconsiders these questions particularly in relation to medicine and psychotherapeutic insights clarified during the 20th century. The book deals with the relationship between homeopathy and other forms of medicine and with the more philosophical aspects of "The Organon" culminating in the need for self-understanding by the patient. Hahnemann was constantly concerned for the patient as a whole - not to be blinded by immediate symptoms - and in this way he was ahead of his time. Dr Clover seeks to provoke the reader towards further clarification, highlighting his "holistic" approach.
