Homeopathy resolves A Thirteen Year Battle Against Psoriasis

Homeopathic Healing for a 54-Year-Old with a 13-Year Battle Against Psoriasis

Case Details:

A 54-year-old male patient, suffering from psoriasis for 13 years, sought treatment at our clinic after experiencing a progressive worsening of his condition. Despite consulting multiple dermatologists and undergoing various conventional treatments, his psoriasis continued to deteriorate. Initially localized to the scalp, the condition eventually spread across his entire body, culminating in erythrodermic psoriasis during periods of exacerbation.

Unfortunately, his psoriasis became resistant to modern treatments, leaving him with limited options. A comprehensive case analysis revealed several contributing factors, including a significant family history of psoriasis and multiple comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, dyslipidemia, and hypothyroidism. His most recent flare-up occurred following a myocardial infarction, further complicating his health.

Beyond his physical challenges, the patient also endured severe psychological distress. He exhibited marked anxiety, stemming from lifelong financial struggles, and was notably timid in nature. His dreams often involved falling from heights or into water, indicating a deep-rooted fear of high places. These emotional and mental stressors significantly impacted his overall well-being and likely contributed to the persistence of his psoriasis.

After an in-depth evaluation, I prescribed a carefully selected homeopathic similimum, specifically tailored to his unique physical and emotional state. The remedy was administered in a 200 potency. It was repeated weekly until a noticeable improvement was gained in the patient’s skin lesions. The results were remarkable—his psoriasis showed immediate and substantial remission, offering him hope and relief after years of unsuccessful conventional treatments.

Below are some photos showcasing his condition before and after treatment given with permission from Dr. Sonawane of Psoriatreat Clinics.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis most commonly occurs on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp and causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches.

Psoriasis is a common, long-term, chronic inflammatory disease usually acknowledged by orthodox medicine as having  no cure. When homeopathy resolves a case like in this 54-year-old gentleman it is worth reporting on the case.

Psoriasis can be painful, interfere with sleep and make it hard to concentrate. The condition tends to go through cycles, flaring for a few weeks or months, then subsiding for a while. Common triggers in people with a genetic predisposition to psoriasis include infections, cuts or burns, and certain medications. In this reported case, the most recent flare-up occurred following a myocardial infarction, further complicating his health.

Common signs and symptoms of psoriasis include:

  • Appearance varies from being a patchy rash, to major eruptions over a large part of the body
  • Rashes of different colour, from shades of purple with gray scale on brown or black skin and pink or red with silver scale on white skin
  • Sometimes looking like dandruff scaling
  • In children there may be small scaling spots
  • Bleeding may occur from dry, cracked skin
  • Itching, burning or soreness
  • For some people, psoriasis also affects their nails and joints
  • Cyclic rashes that flare for a few weeks or months and then subside
  • Appears on multiple body sites

Risk factors for psoriasis

About a third of instances begin in childhood. Three factors can increase the risk of exacerbating or developing the disease:

  • Family history. The condition runs in families. Having one parent with psoriasis increases the risk of getting the disease. And having two parents with psoriasis increases the risk even more.
  • Smoking. Smoking tobacco not only increases the risk of psoriasis but also may increase it’s severity.
  • Stress. One of the factors contributing to the exacerbation of psoriatic disease is stress. Stressful events can be responsible for the onset of disease and can trigger a new flare. Stress exacerbates psoriatic disease in both children and adults.

Living with psoriasis

Living with a condition visible on the skin takes a heavy toll on a person’s mental health and emotional well-being. The psychological impact is increasingly recognised as a significant part of psoriatic disease. One of the factors contributing to the exacerbation of psoriatic disease is stress.

Self-esteem, confidence, and body image may be negatively affected by psoriatic disease. They are often associated with rejection from society, a social process called stigma. What’s worse, stigma is often accompanied by self-stigma: individuals with psoriatic disease can feel self-conscious and embarrassed due to their condition.
