Conversation with artists and scientists:

Is homeopathy an art or a science?

20th January 2011

By Dr Russell Vickers, Dr Jurgen Schulte and Homeopath Linlee Jordan: Free talk

On a balmy Thursday night in late January of this year, the Aurum Project in conjunction with Artful Moment pop up galleries held an inspiring evening where three great homeopathic minds came together for an informal talk. The walls were lined with beautiful artworks set up for the short term in a shop space in Cammeray that was between tenants. One of the benefits of the pop up gallery is that it appears in a completely unexpected place, and those walking past can come in from the street to have a look.

Linlee Jordan introduced the conversation with her sensible and grounded view on practicing homeopathy in the every day clinic situation. Linlee gave some lovely examples of how homeopathy works for her and her clients. This enabled those who were new to homeopathy to receive a glimpse into understanding how homeopathy works and what it actually is.

Dr Russel Vickers and Dr Jurgan Shulte then proceeded to explain their insights gained from their studies and experiments into attempting to find evidence that homeopathic medicines have a physical effect that can actually be measured. This talk became very technical as quantum physics and advanced chemistry were the order of the day, however both speakers did a wonderful job of bringing their scientific specialties down to the level of the rest of us!

The technical information was delivered in between humorous and interesting anecdotes about their different homeopathic experiences, and proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable occasion all round. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces and meet some new people. We thank all of those involved and make sure to look out for the next Aurum event coming soon.

The talk “Homeopathy in Africa”

26th October 2010

This was a free talk for Aurum Project members held at Endeavour College in Sydney. Very inspiring. At the Ghana Homeopathy Project their vision is the establishment of homeopathy as a recognised part of the health care system in Africa and Ghana in particular. Their charity’s main objective is the relief and prevention of disease working closely with local community developments and initiatives. Further, they support the development of homeopathic education and vocational training facilities together with local partners, in conjunction with established health workers and local practices. Their vision extends to make homeopathy available to deprived communities as a valid and affordable form of treatment and to initiate health education. Richard Pitt, (CCH, RSHom) is a  Homeopath and Educator most recently from San Francisco California who is spending more than a sabbathical year with the Ghana Homeopathy Project.
He studied in Greece with George Vithoulkas in 1983 and 1985 and in India in Calcutta in 1986-1987 and has practiced homeopathy for 25 years. At the Pacific Academy of Homeopathy he ran three clinics for student clinical education, seeing patients and overseeing student practitioners, from 1992 to 2008.

The Golden Dinner October 2009

The fundraising Golden Dinner was a great success with guest speaker Alastair Gray giving a rousing call to all healthcare workers about the importance of research into homeopathy. This was followed by excellent dancing music from the band Brazilian Love Affair and fun at the silent auctions.
