Homeopathy Journal acheives impact factor for the first time…

Homeopathy is an international journal publishing high quality
evidence-based articles about homeopathy.

Impact Factors (IFs) are published by Thomson Reuters and are
designed to measure how often articles from a journal are cited in a
particular year. The IF is often used as an indication of the relative
importance of a journal in its field.

Homeopathy journal has achieved a 2008 Impact Factor of 1.041. This
IF puts Homeopathy just outside the top ten international journals in
Thomson Reuters’ Complementary Medicine category. The top journal in
the category has an IF of 2.808. For comparison, the medical journal
with the highest IF is the New England Medical Journal (about 35). The
Lancet’s IF is around 28.
Editor-in-Chief Dr Peter Fisher comments: “This is a tribute to
authors whose high quality work has been published in Homeopathy.”

Upcoming auditing workshop
‘Harness Your Success’

In March … 2010 David Levy Dip Hom MHlthSc (Ed) will run a workshop
especially designed to enhance your ability to know what is happening
in your practice as homeopaths.

Here’s what we mean as an example: how many people have you seen who
have asthma, what age were they, how many remedies did they receive,
how long was it before there was a positive response and what
percentage did not respond?

This audit information is pure marketing gold – eg: you may discover
that in the last 12 months, 82% of kids between the age of 5 years and
12 years showed marked or moderate improvement after three consults or
that the non-response rate was 9%.

This is vital information that helps the individual homeopath to make
positive changes in their own practice from the information they
discover. The thought process is “What could I do differently?” For
the whole Australian homeopathic profession imagine the wealth of
information if the same process is done by 5 different clinics pooling
their information.
David Levy has run many workshops and is a seasoned lecturer and he
will run an interactive session to make the day really worthwile.

Would you like to be considered for homeopathy research positions
which may be large or small/ funded or non-funded?  When an
opportunity arises through grants, sponsorship, or partnership ideas
the first place to find those with a research interest is the listing

to conduct a pilot study on insomnia and we are seeking four
practitioners who would like to participate. Your committment may be
small or may be as much as helping with the trial design phase. We are
also recruiting participants for the trial.
Also the Aurum Project provings/HPT group has finished the proving
of melatonin and a second proving is now nearing completion.  If have
an interest in participating in a proving or being part of the

Fundraising News

Congratulations to The Family Wellness Centre (02) 99381090 at
Allambie Heights which has a
strong interest in evidence based natural therapies.

They recently supported the Allambie School fair by tirelessly
massaging all day for a gold coin donation to the Aurum Project. They
raised over $100.

Every $100 really helps. You can host a fundraising homeopathy
morning tea or small event in your area. Check out how to host a
morning tea at:

ARNICA and plastic surgery

There is much more positive research on Arnica than is publically
known, including a study that showed benefit from Arnica after facial
plastic surgery.

Published in: Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, Vol. 8, Jan./Feb.
2006, p. 54–59: Effect of Homeopathic Arnica montana on Bruising in
Face-Lifts, by Brook M. Seeley et al. This was an institutional review
board-approved, randomized, prospective, double-blind,
placebo-controlled trial of Arnica montana. The results were highly
statistically significant.
